Current Partner Schools
Our current partner schools in the southwest region of Puerto Rico are Escuela Superior Ocupacional Áurea E. Quiles Claudio in Guánica and Escuela Secundaria Montessori Alejandro Tapia y Rivera in Lajas, where students lead community-based social marketing campaigns focused on recycling, composting and agroecological food production.
Through our student-centered curriculum students become researchers, creators, and advocates. They observed behavior concerns in their communities such as lack of waste management protocols, single-use plastics prevalence, excessive food waste at school cafeteria, and food insecurity, and they designed tangible solutions that were both practical and culturally relevant to encourage behaviors that lead to social and environmental wellbeing.
Our efforts go beyond the classroom. It empowers children and youth to influence behaviors, engage local stakeholders, and take an active role in building healthier communities and environments.

Escuela Superior Ocupacional Áurea E. Quiles Claudio - Guánica
“¡Recicla, menos basura, más vida!” (Recycle, less trash, more life!) is the campaign message designed by students in 2026 to promote organized recycling and more sustainable habits within their school community. Through research and a creative campaign they are encouraging others to reduce, reuse, and take action toward a healthier environment. They created 4 educational videos, designed a logo, established recycling stations and collected impact data to understand sociological barriers and benefits.
